Thank you. You really, in true honesty were my first Doctor, and I’m never going to forget you. Eleven helped me understand that it’s okay to be young and still remember being a kid. In all seriousness, it’s fun to grow up too.
But now it’s time for you to go.
You were the one that well and truly got me hooked onto Doctor Who. And I really do thank you for that. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have such an obsession with watching and rewatching all of Eccleston and Tennant’s episodes.
But you first burst onto my screen in The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe, and I can say that it was fantastic. I wondered to myself, “Who is this man, with the cheekbones and the floppy hair, that ridiculous smile and bow tie?” As I continued to watch, I fell deeper and deeper in love with the character, and even more so with you. I went to my first Doctor Who event the other night as River, my friend as Amy, and we had a wild time. I saw so many Eleventh Doctors, and all of them looked so good, although, not as good as you would have been.
We watched Asylum of the Daleks and Angels take Manhattan, the latter of the two being my second time watching it, as I ever so foolishly held out so it wouldn’t hurt as much. But it did, and I felt the emotions Eleven was feeling as I’d grown up with Amy and Rory (in a way).
My, my, the feisty Scottish girl who waited, and that man…the Last Centurion… what could I have done without them? They helped shape my life in a way, and I thank Karen and Arthur through you for that.
When I first heard the news of you leaving, needless to say at first I was shocked, the news passing over me like the breeze. But now it seems all too real. What a…a…..disastrous Christmas present it’s going to be, watching you regenerate. I can’t believe it, still can’t believe that the Ponds are gone, so what am I going to do about you?
All I know is that while I’m extremely upset, I’m also pleased. You’re being recognised as one of the most fantastic actors of our generation for portraying Number Eleven, and although I can’t really see you as anyone else, I know that I’ll have to warm up to it. I mean, I have How to Catch A Monster to look forward to, right?
Anyway, it’s time for me to go to bed.
Best of Luck, Matt.
Best of luck, great wishes, it was nice travelling with you…Geronimo.
p.s. bowties are most definitely cool.
